Dashing in the Snow

You can’t see the snow here but it was coming down like great soaked cotton balls and I thought I’d be slogging home empty-handed again when I spotted this gentleman. He was literally dashing and I had to skip-run after him for this photo, not an easy task in my go-go-sno boots. When I asked him about what he had on, he said, “Oh, it keeps me warm!” I laughed. Just goes to show you, it’s not necessary WHAT you wear but HOW you wear it. Dashing.

Magazine Perfect Italian Style

Sigh – this is Salvatore. He is from Italy, looking like he just stepped off the plane from a photo shoot. Shades of charcoal and black, checked jacket with a polka-dot shirt – sigh. There’s no use listing everything since this picture says it all. Make sure you don’t miss the beautiful touches he added to his lapel, manly flannel bows that he made and sewed on himself. I’ve added a closeup below just in case.

I did not photoshop this woman’s earrings or shoes – I swear. They were glowing all their own. The earrings were the perfect complement for her peaches complexion and rich red hair. The shoes are not real – they are a figment of our imagination… This woman is a graphic designer.

This man was actually feeling rather slobbish today – when he told me what he usually wears I could understand why. He favours a 1926 suit for a night on the town with his fashion designer girlfriend, and his preferred hat is a fedora, but only worn with finely tailored vintage suits to match. Nonetheless, his perfectly coiffed hair and moustache with this rich grey cardigan, 1940s boots, and pocket chain are far from lumberjack.

Animals and Oranges

This woman I found in the shopping mall, but knowing how bad my indoor photography is, I urged her to accompany me outside for this photo. She was so sweet that she obliged. Talk about tangy – animal print and slim leather pants with citrus. She’s not too happy with the coat but wears it for the colour. In the end, it’s her vibrant personality I’ll remember most.

Beehive Full of Hair

Another dreadlock hair day. When I first spotted this woman she was looking down, and from that angle her hair was a magnificent towering beacon! It’s all her own hair – I asked. It’s kind of like sixties beehive meets 21st century Aaaah!!! – in a good way.

Sister Stone

This woman has so much going on: the wool and knits and canvas, leather, silver. What surprised me most was the stone – a polished piece of aragonite beams from her forehead, suspended by a leather cord. The circular shape is reflected in her great heavy silver earrings. Beautiful feathers frame her face, but they are difficult to distinguish from her Easy Rider hair, which also is adorned with colourful objects – I’m not sure what, but the effect is very cool. She bought the bag in Mexico. (photo Feb 15)

Check Vancouver’s society pages and you’ll probably find this woman, real estate agent Alexis Palkowski (propertiesbyalexis.com). What I like most about this outfit is her bold red, and the cross necklace makes me think Goth, not necessarily religion! Her long blond tresses are fabulous. (photo Feb 11)

Sisters visiting Vancouver from Courtney, both in bright tops, matching scarves, and black slacks. Sis on the left knit the beautiful scarves, which are rings with a twist. Sis on the right bought her robin’s-egg-blue sweater in the Shetland Islands where she was impressed by how colourfully the locals dressed. How appropriate that I caught them outside the Art Gallery.
