Paris or High Plains Drifter?

colour, felt hat, socks, stripes

I’m usually not a fan of socks with sandals, but I make an exception here. I think this woman has a wonderfully unique style. I love this felt hat with its rigid brim and overall softness, the pale yellow oversized scarf, simple leather sling bag, and these wild socks. Notice, too, the beautiful round ring on her right hand. I get a French vibe here, but the scarf reminds me of a serape, so I also picture high plains drifting. This woman is a classical musician and composer.

Astrosatchel, bag, boots, Miz Mooz, Susan Harris, women

This woman looks great in this myriad of interesting pieces. She itemized each one for me so I would know where to find them myself. The top she bought at the One-of-a-Kind Craft Sale. It is by Susan Harris, a Canadian designer based in Toronto; I checked her site and, wow, great stuff, especially her “sleeves.” The bag is by Astrosatchel, and the moss-coloured boots are Miz Mooz. I think my favourite thing about this outfit, though, is the fantastic pop of royal blue with the flower motif on the cuff.

Candy Apple Red

belt, reds, women

Nothing like a burst of delicious candy apple red on a grey morning. I love how this woman wears her wide, round-buckled belt hip-slung style, and with the turtleneck, boots, and above-the knee skirt, she reminds me of British mod. The simplicity of the red and black palette creates a great professional look, but with a happy slap. This Vancouver woman is a lawyer.
