I had the good fortune today to attend the Society for the Museum of Original Costume (SMOC) event, The Little Black Dress: How Black Went From Maudlin to Magnificent, at Hycroft House, which featured fashion expert Ivan Sayers’ commentary on the evolution of little black dresses through the years as illustrated by a host of models wearing vintage garments. Mr. Sayers not only has a wealth of knowledge, but he is a highly entertaining speaker. Also, never have I seen so many beautiful little black dresses on women of every age in one room at the same time. Spectacular!

Here are a few photos of women who attended the event – there were too many gorgeous subjects to choose from… In the next post are models wearing dresses from a variety of eras.

My thanks to SMOC board member Alia Tracy for the media invitation. The Society for the Museum of Original Costume hopes to open a permanent museum in the city so your support of future events is highly welcome. You can learn more about the society HERE.
