Can you believe this felt coat? This woman, who is a clothing designer, got this piece of functional art in a swap with a friend and fellow designer, which begs the question: what fabulous piece did her friend get in return? This woman’s bag is also from a fellow designer, and the skirt, photo below, is from Italy, from a friend. Nice friends! I don’t usually take notes during my rounds, so I hope this woman leaves a comment on this post with her web address so we can find out more about her work…

It’s a muted colour palette but talk about vibrance of style! The shortish skirt over trim black tights, her sleek shiny boots, chunky bracelets, dark nails – she’s all there. I like how she has chosen a caramel belt for her ensemble rather than a safer black one; it adds a delicious little pop of colour. Her clean, fresh hairstyle must also add a kick to anything she puts on. She is a Vancouverite, originally from England.

Classic Beauty

How fitting that I captured this woman where I did – at the Art Gallery. She has such a sculptural classic beauty, which is enhanced by the wonderful uninterrupted full-body line created by the colour blending of the long skirt and coat wrap. One of the things I like about this ensemble is how this woman has boldly used a stretch purple belt to add a delicious dash of tension to the outfit and a graceful curve in the visual sweep.
