Armies of edgy young women spend hundred of dollars in expensive salons every year trying to achieve the platinum hair that comes naturally to this woman. She admits that she is lucky this way. Absolutely! I love the chemical whiteness of the Burberry quilted coat with the black grounding of the denim slacks and her top. The deep plum of her Tod’s shoes, matching reading glasses, and the red stripe in the coat really play well off each other in such a spare palette. Stunning simplicity.

This woman from Vancouver is obviously a pro in the fine art of subtle mixing. I love the off-white jacket with the white skirt, and, of course, the piece would not be finished without the brilliant robin’s egg blue shoes and colourful bag.

Black, White, and Earth-tone All Over

Granville Street. The brightly-coloured glasses lanyard and silver wedge sandals are great accents for this simple but effective black, white, and beige combo. A casual but put-together look.

Again, Granville Street. A second woman strolled past with the same base palette of black, white, and earth tone.  She used a chunky necklace, tailored jacket, and heeled sandal to create a more upscale look. Both looks well done.
